I'm having a rough week. I'm currently focused on grad school applications. I had my personal statement ripped apart by my coworker. I need someone to tell me I'm not a terrible writer...

I haven't updated in a while since I've been busy with work. I've been stressing the last couple days about various real life things. Then I get a call from my friends mother early this evening. My best friend from college, the girl I lived with for three years, the girl I want to be the godmother of my children, just had a stroke. I think she's going to be OK. I was able to talk with her briefly but her speech is slow and slurred. I don't know much else right now and its killing me that there isn't more I can do. It just makes you realize you can't freak out about the little things. I mean, she was 22 and healthy! She doesn't smoke and never drank in college (although I think she's had a couple since graduation). God, I hope she's OK. But scary things can happen to anyone. It makes you appreciate every moment we have on this earth.

I just finished. It took me a little while but it was definitely worth it. I'm very impressed. I REALLY enjoyed this book. I liked it better than the second and possibly more than the first, but its hard to compare because they all have such a different feel.

It was weird because I was kind of embarrassed to be reading this book on the train (particularly when a couple people asked me about it and I was like, "Its a teenage vampire love story"). I should keep in mind that every other person on the train is reading Harry Potter. I'm always tempted to yell something spoilery to these people (they aren't TRUE fans if they are still in the process of reading it), but I hold back. But then the other day, the Metro (this free newspaper they give to everyone on the train) had a full page ad for Eclipse. I couldn't believe it. I mean, the ad was HUGE and seriously staring me in the face. I was definitely less embarrassed to be seen with it after that.

More people need to get into this series. It is too good. I'd say that I'd write a review of the book but seeing how the Spider-Man 3 and HP7 reviews haven't quite happened yet, I wouldn't hold your breath.

In other news, I think the shows I'm most excited for this Fall are Heroes, Ugly Betty, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I'm going to continue to pimp Avatar until people start watching it. Its really that good. M. Night Shyamalan is slated to direct the live action version but I can't imagine it being anywhere near as good as the cartoon.

I think I might have mentioned this a while ago, but I'm not sure. I just remembered after watching the Heroes comic con vid posted on htbthomas's journal and seeing HRG's (aka Noah) shirt. It said something like "I just work at a paper company".

So NBC has two shows about paper companies. "The Office" and "Heroes". I wonder if I could write a fan fiction crossover? What if Noah's company was actually Dunder Mifflin. Has this been done before?

Guess what I've got?

OK, I know I'm way behind the curve but I just started working full time so things have been busy. Basically I wanted to congratulate all the winners of the supes_mv_awards. Thank you to the amazing ladies who worked so hard to organize it htbthomas, bistyboo1974, and alphielj. Am I forgetting anyone else who worked on the community? Well, you guys rock and this was such a blast to follow the awards as they progressed. There were so many good fics to choose from and I was honored just to be nominated. Crossing my fingers that maybe I'll win something next year.

In other news, HP comes out on Friday night at midnight (OK, technically Sat.) I wish my brother was here for it. For the last three books, we each got a copy at midnight, grabbed a couple cokes, and stayed up reading side by side for as long as possible (and occasionally looking up to say "did you read such and such page yet!"). I intend to do the same thing this year but I think I'll have to replace my brother's company with two of my other favorite men: Ben and Jerry. So yes, Friday night will be me, Ben, Jerry and Harry for as long as I can stay awake...

Thanks to all of you who were so supportive about my little "fight" with my sister. Yeah, that kind of happens a lot but we made up now. She drives me crazy so its nice to occasionally have people to vent to.

I'm trying to do more writing (story of my life, literally). I don't know why it continues to be such a struggle for me. I feel like a few years ago I was so much more efficient. Its not a lack of ideas, I just have trouble focusing. Maybe that's my problem. I'm pulled into too many directions I have trouble knowing what to work on.

I also think my problem is that I watch too much TV. TV just makes me happy but it definitely eats up my time when I could be writing. And to add to the whole mess, I just discovered Ugly Betty. A couple friends were insisting I give it a shot so I started watching on ABC.com. I'm officially addicted. Add it to the television line up this fall.
